The circumpunct (circled-dot; dot within a circle) was indeed an important symbol for the Illuminati – in particular, it was used in internal correspondences, instead of writing the words “Order of the Illuminati”; similarly, when referring to a lodge a square symbol was used instead.
The symbol has a long history within Freemasonry, hermeticism, rosicrucianism, alchemy and astrology. It’s the alchemical symbol for gold but more anciently has always represented the sun.
For Weishaupt, however, his use of the symbol most certainly derived from the Monad symbol of the Pythagoreans, which was elaborated upon by Gottfried Leibniz in his Monadology of 1714. Weishaupt was greatly influenced by Leibniz and also revered Pythagoras and the ancient schools of wisdom. Look to what it meant to both Pythagoras and Leibniz and you can be sure that it was in this context that the Illuminati had used it.

Kevin Cole recently wrote an informative article about Carroll Quigley: “Professor Carroll Quigley and the Article that Said Too Little: Reclaiming History from Omission and Partisan Straw Men.” It concerns a Washington Post article in 1975 about how Carroll Quigley, Georgetown University professor of history, had unwittingly become a hero of sorts for the conspiracy theories promulgated by the John Birch Society. The interview, conducted by Rudy Maxa, was recorded and is available on the internet with an accompanying transcript (part one, two, three, four and five).
It’s pretty clear that the recording formed the material used by Maxa for the writing of the Post article, however as Kevin Cole has highlighted there are glaring omissions that hadn’t made it into the article.
I’ll let you read Cole’s assessment for yourself. He brings up good points.
What follows are my own observations about particulars in the interview for which I have some insight.
The discussion on the Illuminati and the Carbonari, in parts four and five, are interesting – for what is said, what’s left out, and certain erroneous statements and/or logic.

Strange Confluences: The Tanton Network
On February 13, 2002, U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) and former San Diego congressman Brian Bilbray addressed a sizable audience concerned with illegal immigration issues (“The Puppeteer,” no pagination). Hosted at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C., the event was the prelude to a two-day lobbying campaign (no pagination). The discerning researcher who investigates this event will automatically identify intimations of a racist Fifth Column, which threatens to subsume the Minutemen Project and subvert efforts to restore America’s border integrity. A white supremacist newsletter entitled the Citizens Informer was made available at the meeting (no pagination). This newsletter is published by the Council of Conservative Citizens, a racist organization financed by the Shea Foundation (no pagination).
More importantly, this assembly was “masterminded by NumbersUSA,” which is but one appendage of a larger organizational octopus (no pagination). When NumbersUSA executive director Roy Beck addressed the audience, he admonished activists to underplay the organization’s involvement in the lobbying effort on Capitol Hill (no pagination). Beck candidly stated that the campaign “needs to look like a grassroots effort” (no pagination). However, NumbersUSA is anything but a grassroots organization. In the previous instalments in this series, we established the centrality of war to the elite’s occult doctrine of transformism. This occult doctrine has presented itself under numerous appellations, but its core theme has remained the same: humanity is gradually evolving towards apotheosis. The most recent incarnation of this doctrine is Darwinism, which depicts life as an enormous struggle to survive. On the microcosmic level, this struggle is bodied forth by the competition between species. On a macrocosmic level, this struggle manifests itself as war between nations. In hopes of facilitating the purported evolutionary ascent of man, the power elite has instigated war after war. In this instalment, we shall take brief glimpse at some of the hidden alchemists behind World War II.
Sci-fi Predictive Programming Revisited
In the first instalment of this series, we examined the role of sci-fi “predictive programming” in psychologically conditioning the masses for future wars. Researcher Michael Hoffman defines “predictive programming” as follows: “Predictive programming works by means of the propagation of the illusion of an infallibly accurate vision of how the world is going to look in the future” (205). Through the circulation of science “fiction” literature, the ignorant masses are provided with semiotic intimations of coming events. Within such literary works are narrative paradigms that are politically and socially expedient to the power elite. Thus, when the future unfolds as planned, it assumes the paradigmatic character of the “fiction” that foretold it.

On September 8th, 2005, my article “Katrina and the Politics of Disaster” was published. The ink was not even dry as the article’s major contentions were vindicated. No, this does not make me or anyone else who saw things in advance prophets. The article’s accuracy can be attributed more to common sense (a scarce commodity these days) than anything else. Playing solitaire will get you better acquainted with yourself, but it will not make you a great poker player. On the other hand, watching Chris Ferguson or Phil Ivey play a few hands will give you an idea of how the game is played. The same principle applies here. Studying the cases of elite criminality and elitist tracts will give you the uncanny ability to predict the future.
Research reveals a certain method employed by bluebloods throughout history to consolidate power. A crisis is created by government action or inaction. This crisis leads to tremendous violence and social upheaval that in turn has the population screaming for a solution. The government then plays the role of savior, presenting an oppressive remedy to the problem. Society gets onto a totalitarian trajectory as the process is repeated over and over again. It worked for the Illuminist-bred Jacobins in France. It worked for the communists in Russia. It worked for Nazis in Germany. Today, it is working for the Neocons and other elitists hidden behind the Bush Administration.
In “Katrina and the Politics of Disaster,” evidence was explored that seemed to suggest that warnings were ignored and assistance was intentionally delayed, causing the Katrina situation to intensify. An atmosphere of lawlessness and anarchy arose, causing people to call for Federal intervention. We now find ourselves in the midst of phase three as the government presents the cure for our ills. Apparently, that cure is a shot of totalitarianism that involves a very long needle. On September 13th, Stewart Powell reported:

In the wake of hurricane Katrina, many within the government are ducking for cover as the blame game begins. One individual who has been targeted is Michael Brown, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The Associated Press reported the following:
The top U.S. disaster official waited hours after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast before he proposed to his boss sending at least 1,000 Homeland Security workers into the region to support rescuers, internal documents show.
Part of the mission, according to the documents obtained by The Associated Press, was to “convey a positive image” about the government’s response for victims.
Acknowledging that such a move would take two days, Michael Brown, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, sought the approval from Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff roughly five hours after Katrina made landfall on Aug. 29.
