DARPA looking to master propaganda via ‘Narrative Networks’

Thursday, November 10th, 2011 - by Terry Melanson

Bob Yirka - October 20, 2011

Sometimes you just don’t know whether to laugh, cry or be alarmed when hearing about what the boys in secretive back rooms are doing in the name of antiterrorism, or homeland security, or whatever else they wish to call it. This time it seems, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the semi-secret agency charged with coming up with new and cool ways to protect the citizens of the United States from foreign bad guys, wants to hire someone to figure out how vulnerable some people are to “narratives” (oral stories, speeches, propaganda, books, etc. that cause people to think) and then, supplant such messages with “better” messages to head off the path that for such people might lead them to becoming a terrorist.

Called the “Narrative Networks” project, DARPA has released a solicitation for research proposals by those that have both the know-how and the technology to implement such a program, which is divided into two parts. The first part would involve analyzing what happens to people when they hear or see a message. It’s thought that certain messages or images actually cause a change in the brain to accommodate the new ideas.

Hasbara spam alert

With Israel’s foreign ministry organising volunteers to flood news websites with pro-Israeli comments, Propaganda 2.0 is here

Richard Silverstein - 9 January 2009

The hasbara brigade strikes again! You always hear about Israeli attempts at media manipulation. Everyone knows it’s going on but usually the process happens through cyber insurgents like those involved with Giyus (and its media monitoring software, Megaphone). Now, we know that the Israeli foreign ministry itself is orchestrating propaganda efforts designed to flood news websites with pro-Israel arguments and information.

Propaganda is making the Truth Movement Totally Irrelevant

Friday, November 21st, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Andre - 18/11/2008

There are innumerable propaganda campaigns being launched within what has become known as the Truth Movement. I would like to discuss a few of the most prominent aspects of these campaigns, in the hopes of helping folks weed through some of the disinformation. We are going to have to understand the true nature of what we are dealing with if we are ever going be able to make an effective stand against it.

With the popularization of the internet and the monumental increase in the accessibility of information, it was necessary to subvert and neutralize any grassroots opposition to the coming global system and the mechanisms behind it, which would inevitably form if given the chance, by any means necessary. The preferred method for doing this has been to take the basic truths about what is happening, mix it with bizarre, fantastical, or emotionally significant propaganda, and then create “leaders” to distribute this tainted information.

What happens is that people are intrinsically drawn to the truth that is given by these seemingly heroic leaders that they are presented with. They then accept the disinformation that said truth is mixed with, as a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, and because they have begin to idolize the leaders that they have been given, as it often seems humans are genetically programmed to do.

The 2008 US Election is Not About the Issues

Friday, September 5th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Skilluminati Research - Sep 04, 2008

The title of this piece is not an original statement, it’s actually a direct, and verifiably real, quotation from Rick Davis. Rick Davis, believe it or not, is a (currently still employed) campaign manager for John McCain. The response I’ve seen has mostly alternated between disbelief and cheering victory — my Democratic friends took that quote as a tacit admission of failure on behalf of the McBush campaign. I’m here to say that it’s not: Rick Davis was telling the truth.

Welcome to post-reality. I don’t expect anyone to get used to this anytime soon. Even CBS News is reporting on how most of the military footage from the Republican National Convention was paid actors in a stadium somewherethis is the real 2008 Election…
