Rhodes Memorial, Cape Town, South Africa, modeled after the Greek Temple at Segesta

Rhodes originally wrote this on June 2, 1877, in Oxford. Later, that year in Kimberley, he made some additions and changes. What follows is that amended statement. The spelling and grammar errors were in the original. (source)

It often strikes a man to inquire what is the chief good in life; to one the thought comes that it is a happy marriage, to another great wealth, and as each seizes on his idea, for that he more or less works for the rest of his existence. To myself thinking over the same question the wish came to render myself useful to my country. I then asked myself how could I and after reviewing the various methods I have felt that at the present day we are actually limiting our children and perhaps bringing into the world half the human beings we might owing to the lack of country for them to inhabit that if we had retained America there would at this moment be millions more of English living. I contend that we are the finest race in the world and that the more of the world we inhabit the better it is for the human race. Just fancy those parts that are at present inhabited by the most despicable specimens of human beings what an alteration there would be if they were brought under Anglo-Saxon influence, look again at the extra employment a new country added to our dominions gives. I contend that every acre added to our territory means in the future birth to some more of the English race who otherwise would not be brought into existence. Added to this the absorption of the greater portion of the world under our rule simply means the end of all wars, at this moment had we not lost America I believe we could have stopped the Russian-Turkish war by merely refusing money and supplies. Having these ideas what scheme could we think of to forward this object. I look into history and I read the story of the Jesuits I see what they were able to do in a bad cause and I might say under bad leaders.

The Ruling Class-Sponsored Race War and the Balkanization of America Part Four

Monday, September 29th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Paul and Phillip Collins | 2008-09-29 - Previous installments of this series have examined the disturbing conjunction between the Minute Men, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, Malthusian population control advocates, and Dominionist organizations like the Council for National Policy (CNP). [...] This installment shall attempt to elucidate the neo-Confederate Trojan Horse within the so-called “Ron Paul Revolution.” Masquerading as libertarians, these neo-Confederates are trying to use Paul’s movement as a vehicle for divisive racial politics and secessionist objectives.

Former Kissinger Policy Planner, CFR Member Calls For New Global Monetary Authority

Monday, September 29th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Steve Watson - Sept 26, 2008

A Council on Foreign Relations member and former policy planner under prominent Bilderberger Henry Kissinger has penned a piece in the Financial Times of London calling for a “new global monetary authority” that would have the power to monitor all national financial authorities and all large global financial companies.

“Even if the US’s massive financial rescue operation succeeds, it should be followed by something even more far-reaching – the establishment of a Global Monetary Authority to oversee markets that have become borderless,” writes Jeffrey Garten, also a former managing director of Lehman Brothers.

Garten, now a professor of business at Yale, served on the policy planning staff of Kissinger during his time as Secretary of State. He also served on the White House Council on International Economic Policy under the Nixon administration and went on to become the Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade under Bill Clinton.

Citing “globalization”, A “clash of philosophies” and the “vacuum at the centre” of the current global institutional apparatus, Garten describes his vision for a new monolithic world authority to oversee all financial activity around the globe.

Rothschild takes independent path

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Lina Saigol - September 23 2008

The turmoil in the financial services industry is proving to be a major opportunity for two blue-chip institutions that stayed focused on providing independent advice, Lazard and NM Rothschild.

They steered clear of the complex financing deals that have left their bulge-bracket rivals with wounded balance sheets and preserved their reputations for providing strong strategic counsel, untainted by cross-selling.

Now, both groups are prospering as rivals seek help and the economic cycle brings their other great strength, restructuring practices, to the fore.

As jobs in the sector are shed by the thousands, Rothschild and Lazard are seeing advisory revenues soar.

Henry Kissinger to teach Sarah Palin about foreign affairs

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

News.com.au | Sep 24, 2008 (via Aftermath News)

By Stefanie Balogh in New York

REPUBLICAN vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is to take her first tentative steps on to the world stage, at UN talks with the leaders of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

John McCain’s selection of Ms Palin has been criticised due to her lack of foreign affairs experience.

The Alaskan Governor, who describes herself as a hockey mum and a pit bull with lipstick, has argued that she is ready for the world’s second most powerful job, despite never having met a foreign head of state before today.

She got her first passport last year.

Ms Palin defended her national security credentials in a television interview this month, during which she said she had insight into Russia because “you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska”.

Today, Ms Palin will receive a crash course in international affairs from Henry Kissinger, the former US Secretary of State to Republican presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

The Triumvirate and the Plunderbund

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

William N. Grigg - September 21, 2008

A foolish consistency, we are told, is the hobgoblin of little minds, and — this side of Sean Hannity, at least — it’s difficult to find anyone more consistently foolish, or more obviously small-minded, than George W. Bush.

During the nearly eight years his presidency has blighted our country, the Bushling has been a roving epicenter of disaster. And he has greeted each crisis with an indecent, if thoroughly predictable, eagerness to expand his own power, and that of the embedded oligarchy that produced him.

With the embarrassing enthusiasm of a dim-witted schoolchild, he strikes resolute poses and utters the same handful of banalities that translate into one perfectly consistent demand: Shut up and submit.

Undisguised Fascism

The one defining idea of George W. Bush’s career — and trust me, one idea is the storage capacity of his tiny yet uncluttered mind — is this: As creatures of privilege, he and his cronies are permitted to do whatever they please. This is what made him so useful to the Power Elite that stands poised this week to impose a system of undisguised fascism on our country.

Fannie Mae and the Vast Bipartisan Conspiracy

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Jack Shafer - Sept. 16, 2008

The key to Fannie Mae’s survival was the patronage operation it ran. As Wall Street Journal reporter James R. Hagerty wrote two summers ago, “For years, high-level jobs at Fannie Mae were lucrative prizes for lawyers, bankers and political operatives waiting for their next U.S. government post.” Now that the jig is up, let’s meet some of the bipartisan warriors who fought for Fannie Mae’s right to plunder.

Doting Over America’s Decline

Friday, September 19th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Charles Scaliger -Friday, 19 September 2008 15:04

Respected newsman and consummate insider, Fareed Zakaria paints a rosy picture of unabated globalism and global governance and tells why America’s crises are overblown.

The Post-American World, by Fareed Zakaria, New York: W.W. Norton & Company, 2008, 292 pages, hardcover.

If the American news media favors Cassandras, naysayers, and pessimists, then Fareed Zakaria, editor and columnist for Newsweek magazine and irrepressible optimist, is something of an anomaly. But the Indian-born Zakaria, who sits on the boards of both the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission, two of America’s most elite and elitist organizations that typically operate at cross-purposes to the interests of ordinary Americans, is also an insider’s insider. From his vantage point at the pinnacle of the American establishment, this non-practicing Muslim from Bombay enjoys the privileged perspective of the select few who engineer the world we live in behind the scenes.

Bankers, intelligence agents, and raw materials executives striving for a sustainable future
September 18, 2008
In 2005, ISGP first wrote about the 1001 Club. Unfortunately, at the time it was impossible for the author to get hold of copies of the original membership lists. This has changed in recent weeks. Irish journalist Kevin Dowling, who in 1990 was responsible for a number of important exposés on corruption within the World Wide Fund for Nature and the ineffectiveness of some of the fund’s most important programs, recently stumbled across ISGP and decided to send a 1978 and a 1987 membership of the 1001 Club - the only ones who have ever leaked.

Although over a period of more than 25 years a few articles have been written based on these lists, complete photocopies have never been made public. A good number of interesting names have also not been made available previously. They include the British and French Rothschilds, the Astors, David and Laurance Rockefeller, the Bechtels, Michel David-Weill of Lazard, the Wallenbergs, Prince Hans Adam von Liechtenstein, and several others. Equally interesting to this site are some of the Belgian members, including our good friend Leopold Lippens.

Although the 1001 Club is supposed to be nothing more than a group of wealthy WWF supporters, the truth is that a good number of very controversial individuals have been members of this club. There’s also something wrong with the fact that both the 1001 Club members as well as the international press, seldom, if ever, have spoken about this group. In other words, time to further identify Europe’s aristocracy and shed some light on the 1001. Continue reading…

Patrick Briley — Brzezinski: Obama’s Globalist “Rasputin”

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

By Patrick Briley
September 16, 2008

NewsWithViews.com

Zbigniew Brzezinski is Barack Obama’s foreign policy advisor. Brzezenski was the national security advisor for President Carter from 1977 to 1981. In 1988 he endorsed HW Bush for President and was Co-Chair of the HW Bush national security advisory task force. From 1987 to 1989 he also served on the HW Bush’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. Clinton Secretary of State Madeline Albright was a student of Brzezenski.. GW Bush Secretary of State, Condi Rice (also a former national security advisor), who studied under Albright’s father, shares many of the same world government views with Brzezinski and Albright.

Zbigniew Brzezinski is an advocate of socialist world government, a goal he has promoted as a member of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and as a speaker at former Soviet Premier and Communist Mikhail Gorbachev’s first World Forum. Brzezinski is an architect of creating regions of global governance from independent nations to achieve world government. At the World Forum Brzezenski described the global regions that are now being put into place under Condi Rice: Israel and the Palestinians (now MEFTA, Middle East Free Trade Association), Iran as part of a Central Asian region, and China as part of a Far Eastern region. As a member of CSIS Brzezinski has guided their efforts to publish the North American Integration Monitor (2002) that calls for the loss of US sovereignty to a North American Union (NAU) as one of the regional global government blocks.

The proposals for global taxes by Obama have come with the recommendations of Zbigniew Brzezinski to pay for globalization and world government. Obama has proposed a global poverty tax in a US Senate bill. The Climate Change Control Bill strongly supported by Obama calls for an international governing regime to monitor and regulate carbon dioxide and “carbon footprints” from discovery, to production, to consumption at a cost of $50 trillion globally and at a cost of $8 trillion for US taxpayers, all to be paid for by a global tax, whose monies will be used to establish a world government body.

Globalist Ultimatum: Pay up or Collapse

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Patrick Wood - September 10, 2008

There’s going to be no end of controversy over the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

On September 9, 2008, CNBC’s popular financial show “Squawk Box Europe” interviewed Jim Rogers (CEO of Rogers Holding) on his view of the government takeover of Fannie and Freddie:

“You can see that this is welfare for the rich. This is socialism for the rich. It’s bailing out the financiers, the banks, the Wall Streeters… This is outrageous. Who are these people who are taking our money and doing this and ruining America?”

Who, indeed!

On March 21, 2008, The August Review wrote,

“As the global financial crisis unfolds, one thing is certain: The major investment and commercial banks who have wrecked our economy and financial system are now successfully sucking unlimited amounts of money from the people’s Treasury to bail themselves out.”

The August Review has demonstrated repeatedly that the net effect of the New International Economic Order (term coined by the Trilateral Commission in 1973) was to devise new and more effective ways to divert money from the public sector into certain private hands.

Hidden History: Where Organized Crime and Government Meet

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

by Charles A. Burris - LewRockwell.com

“Taking the State wherever found, striking into its history at any point, one sees no way to differentiate the activities of its founders, administrators, and beneficiaries from those of a professional-criminal class.”

~ Albert Jay Nock, Our Enemy, The State

The concept of the State is the greatest criminal conspiracy ever perpetuated upon humanity. As Nock details in his book above, all States originate in conquest and exploitation, and as elite oligarchies, continue to exercise this monopoly of crime over their subject peoples through war, taxation, conscription, and indoctrination.

The great German sociologist Franz Oppenheimer, a decisive influence upon Nock and other cogent scholars of the origin and practice of this criminal institution, observed:

“The State, completely in its genesis, essentially and almost completely during the first stages of its existence, is a social institution, forced by a victorious group of men on a defeated group, with the sole purpose of regulating the dominion of the victorious group over the vanquished, and securing itself against the revolt from within and attacks from abroad. Teleologically, this dominion has no other purpose than the economic exploitation of the vanquished by the victors.

~ Franz Oppenheimer, The State

This has been the case in every State throughout recorded history. From the primitive city-states of ancient Sumer located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in Southern Mesopotamia, to the most sophisticated and powerful State-apparatus yet organized – that of the United States of America – presently engaged in an act of criminal conquest, occupation, and savage exploitation of those very lands and peoples in what is presently labeled Iraq.

When it comes to the State, there is truly nothing new under the Sun.

To persons studying ancient history these documented facts are obvious and unchallenged. There is an unquestioned acceptance of the brutal and exploitative nature of imperial kingdoms of the past. These were regimes of criminal bands of warriors, slave traders, pirates and plunderers, who over the course of time, grew into dynastic ruling families and elite oligarchies, sanctified by ritual trappings and tradition.

But when we come to regard modern or contemporary affairs, there is a great disconnect or discontinuity among most persons. Why is this so?

Murray N. Rothbard provided the answer in his seminal essay, “The Anatomy of the State,” the single most important article one can read to understand the nature of this predatory beast feeding upon its prey.
