The Catholic Church and Freemasonry

HISTORICAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AND FREEMASONS…WHY ROMAN CATHOLICS ARE PROHIBITED BY THE CHURCH FROM BECOMING FREEMASONS
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gate City II for inviting me to speak with you tonight about a rather difficult topic, the historical relationship between the Catholic Church and Freemasons, and why Roman Catholics have been and continue to be prohibited by the Church from becoming Freemasons. My name is John McManus and in my civilian life I am an attorney who has been practicing law for just over 27 years. I am Roman Catholic Christian from birth, and since my ordination in 2002, I have been a member of the Roman Catholic Clergy as a Deacon, the lowest of the three levels of clerical hierarchy in the Catholic Church. Since 2007, I am also a Canon Lawyer, which means that I have a pontifical licentiate that allows me to practice as a lawyer in the Tribunals, or courts, of the Roman Catholic Church, and also to advise the Archbishop or others regarding canonical issues, or those issues related to the law of the Roman Catholic Church.
I have provided you with that personal background to let you know that my studies have been related to the Roman Catholic Church and its laws. I am not a Freemason, nor have I studied in any detail, other than for the preparation of this presentation, the laws, rules, creeds, or other constitutive documents of Freemasons. Nothing presented herein is intended to criticize, condemn or otherwise cast aspersions on either Freemasonry or Freemasons, as a group or to any individual Freemason, whether Roman Catholic or not. Instead, this presentation is intended to provide historical and current information on the subject matter that may be used in civil discussions and personal reflections about the issues presented in order that each person may be informed and form their own consciences about the issues presented.

The list of Protestants, Lutherans and Baptists would fill an entire library! What’s your point? Surely it isn’t just hypocrisy you are worried about.
Here’s a fact for you: Catholics have been Masons since the 18th Century (Priests, Bishops and even a few Cardinals). People generally do what they please. The Pope’s decrees against Freemasonry look good on paper, but the real world is much more nuanced. But they do so at the risk of excommunication. What are the consequences of Protestant clergy who join the Masons? None that I’m aware of. Moreover, Lodges usually have a chaplain, who is invariably a minister or reverend of some Protestant denomination. It’s only in places like corrupt Italy where Masonry is entangled with the Catholic church as well as the Mafia, that you could even conceivably have such an anomaly as a Catholic priest openly being the Lodge chaplain.

I heard once of a priest being a lodge chaplain..I think he did get in some trouble over the matter, though.

Knew about the 74′ Seper Declaration and the 80′ Germans Bishops investigation. Wasn’t aware of the Scandanavian Bishops in 66′ or the ‘Lichtenau Declaration’ of 70′. The 1974 Cardinal Seper statement is the one usually cited for things going wonky. Suprised I hadn’t heard about 1966 or 1970 ones. Just goes to show you how little we know about what is going on inside the Catholic Church sometime. Quite convinced that Pope Paul VI of Vatican II fame was a Freemason now which probably means that the Freemasons have a lot of members inside the College of Cardinals.
The 1970 Declaration completely turns two centuries of Church Law on Freemasonry on it’s head. The sincerity of the 83′ Declaration by Ratzinger is suspect in my mind now as the 83′ Canon Law revision gutted the old Church Law on Freemasonry.
Ratzinger’s background with Rahner and Hans Kung is a real mind blower, go through the collection of links and stories. Who knows what to believe or think, that is the way Freemasonry operates - infiltration, deception and deceit.

I’m also just finishing off Terry’s book, it does a terrific job of showing exactly how involved Freemasons have been in politics. One other thing I could add is something that was recently reinforced to me after reading Tsoukalas’s book - that Freemasonry uses passages from the New Testament and Christian Hymns in Masonic Ritual with references to Jesus removed from it. There are many instances of this but very few give the Bible passage with it, you have to really know your bible to be aware where the sentence comes from. Tsoukalas is a Pastor as well as a Lecturer at a Bible College and was able to recognize this. He also picked up uses of Old Testament passages in Scottish Rite Ritual with odd changes in it such as removal of references to God’s Judgement. Again where this occurs in the Ritual it doesn’t say it comes from a chapter of the bible, you just have to know the bible really well to be able to pick up on this and then of course see what was changed and then interpret the significance of it. Basically the higher degrees of Freemasonry in the Scottish Rite teach resurrection without Judgement by God or Jesus. There is also a lot of strange stuff in A Bridge to Light about the secret plates of Enoch discovered beneath Solomons Temple which when reading passages from this teaching sound a little like the Angel Moroni plate legend of Mormonism.
These Catholic Priests and Protestant Pastors involved with Freemasonry must be aware of alot of this because of their superior knowledge of Biblical Script which makes their participation in a defacto denial of Jesus Christ much worse in my opinion. An arguement could be made that many of the inactive christians wouldn’t recognize the biblical passages that they participated in, what the full meaning of it was (although stating they were in a state of darkness during the initiation might have been a hint), but I can’t see any excuse for men who spent as much as 7 years in study (in the case of the catholic priesthood). It is really hard to understand how they can participate in this.

In the case of Protestant pastors maybe it is the need for ritual that attracts them.
I didn’t know that they had plagiarized from the Bible. I’m going to get Tsoukalas book and see what the evidence is.
I haven’t really delved that much into the content of the rituals for any secret society. It seems I have been remiss. It makes sense. It is the only sure way to identify exactly what it is they believe and promulgate. Quotations from prominent Masons can go a long way, but the real stuff can only be had in official rites and ceremonies.

FW,
I agree that there is some evidence Paul VI was a Freemason, and you’re completely correct that bizarre things are going on in the Vatican.
They participate in it because of simple unbelief and ignorance (with wilful infiltration and malice on the part of some), in my opinion. Unfortunately, Eastern Orthodoxy has had to deal with the same problems of Masonic infiltration, too.

I agree Jay, in fact I think I remember reading something that suggest old Rasputin himself was a Freemason. However I think the Orthodox Church is probably under quite a bit less Freemason influence than the Western Church today because of it’s isolation the past 60 or more years.
I really dislike making posts or suggestions about the heirarchy of the Church and Freemasonry but it reaches a point where you just can’t ignore the signs of it.
The Masonic sign use by some members of the Papal delegation during the Washington and Australia visits and the recognition and joke the EWTN panel made of it together with the equally bizarre incident of the 2007 Nativity Scene in St. Peter’s being set in Nazareth instead of Bethlehem are only two of the more recent incidents.

While I do not claim to be an expert on religion, history, politics or theology, I know a little about the teachings of the Torah, Moses, Jesus and Paul. Their are good catholic people however the hierarchy of the Catholic church does everything opposite the teachings of Paul, from praying with their heads covered to telling priests not to marry and the ridiculous canonization of “saints” the list goes on. While he does have the position of Disciple Peter is not the cornerstone of anything. The government of the Catholic church itself is a sneer at God because only Jesus will install a government when he returns. The wheat and the chaff clearly are growing together. My point is God has purposes for all of us noble or not, the Catholic Church more than likely will crown the Anti-Christ just like it crowned Napoleon.

The still-unreleased 3rd secret of Fatima warned against Vatican II, the new “mass,” and evil churchmen. All 3 are responsible for the shrinking of the Catholic Church. The Vatican is no longer Catholic. True Catholics resist Vatican II and the novus ordo “mass.” Freemasons and many anti-Catholics have infiltrated the Vatican and the Church all over the world. The goal of Freemasonry is to destroy Christianity, namely the Catholic Church because they know the Catholic Church is The Church of Christ. But they will not succeed. Christ told us that the gates of Hell will not prevail over His Church. The Church may appear to be dead one day but will rise up as Christ did.
