The Political Economy of Global Government

Saturday, February 5th, 2011 - by Terry Melanson

Andrew Gavin Marshall - February 2, 2011

Capitalism has always changed and morphed; it has adapted to changes in the world and has forced the world to adapt to its changes. Capitalism has never, and never will be, entirely consistent in its structure and institutions. The global economic crisis has sped up developments that have been underway for a long time, specifically within the last century. In the midst of a global crisis, these changes, which have been slow and evolutionary, are being rapidly sped up and accelerated.

Introduction

The global political economy is being transformed into a global government structure at the crossroads of a major financial crisis. However, far from the assumptions of many students of Capitalism and the global political economy, these changes are not natural and inevitable; these changes are planned, organized, socialized and institutionalized. The process towards creating a global government is not a new one; several institutions and organizations throughout the world have slowly been directing the world down this path.

This chapter examines the process of constructing a global government, with a particular focus on the major organizations that have and are currently shaping this transformation. What is being undertaken is the deconstruction of the global economy and national polity in order to rebuild the global political economy into a singular governance structure. Thus, destruction becomes a form of creation; the global economic crisis must be viewed in this context.

The five worldviews that define American politics

Saturday, February 5th, 2011 - by Terry Melanson

Michael Lind - Jan 11, 2011

Does it often seem that many American politicians and pundits are talking past each other? That is because they really are. The frustrating nature of public debate arises in large part from the fact that Americans do not share a single worldview.

A worldview is a more or less coherent understanding of the nature of reality, which permits its holders to interpret new information in light of their preconceptions. Clashes among worldviews cannot be ended by a simple appeal to facts. Even if rival sides agree on the facts, people may disagree on conclusions because of their different premises.

Both the conservative and liberal camps include people with different and sometimes incompatible worldviews. American public debate is arguably dominated by five significant political worldviews: neoliberal globalism, social democratic liberalism, populist nationalism, libertarian isolationism and Green Malthusianism.

Government Neglect Blamed for Modern-Day Eugenics in Pennsylvania

Abortionists perform a 104 year old tradition of Sterilization on Women of Color

Contact: Catherine Davis, 678-894-0445

WASHINGTON, Feb. 2, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ — Leaders of the National Black Pro-Life Coalition are outraged and horrified that women could be treated by Kermit Gosnell for over a decade without government oversight and accountability in Pennsylvania. A recent grand jury investigation shows that state health care officials did not act on reports of botched abortions, involuntary sterilizations and deplorable facilities run by Gosnell for low-income women, mostly minorities.

Gosnell, an African-American, was recently arrested for killing a woman in a botched abortion and for seven counts of murder related to the infanticide deaths of babies, allegedly purposefully birthing then killing them with medical scissors. Gosnell was allowed to continue performing late-term abortions even after being denied admittance to the National Abortion Federation (NAF). NAF rendered their decision after a site visit showed deplorable conditions at his facility yet the NAF did not report the conditions.

Fury Builds Over Blackouts Caused By De-Industrialization Of America

Fury is building over rolling nationwide blackouts triggered by the Obama administration’s deliberate agenda to block the construction of new coal-fired plants, as local energy companies struggle to meet Americans’ power demands amidst some of the coldest weather seen in decades.

- As we reported yesterday, four hospitals in Texas reacted furiously after they were hit with planned outages despite being promised they would be spared even as power to Super Bowl venues remains uninterrupted.

- Thousands in New Mexico have been left without natural gas as Gov. Susana Martinez on Thursday declared a state of emergency. “Due to statewide natural gas shortages, I have ordered all government agencies that do not provide essential services to shut down and all nonessential employees to stay home” on Friday, Martinez said after meeting with public safety personnel in Albuquerque,” reports the Associated Press.

TCR Reports: UFO’s, Black-Ops, and the ‘New Man’?

Phillip and Paul Collins, authors of The Ascendancy of the Scientific Dictatorship, return to discuss the technocratic-occult obsession with Extraterrestrials in “science,” “science fiction,” and transhumanism ala imaginative evolutionary interpretive models of the origins of the universe. Is a new neo-pagan religion being born today, attempting to fill the spiritual vacuum left by enforced secularization? What is the relation to the proposed evolutionary ‘apotheosis of the New Man’? Occult elites today curiously suggest it is time to take “human evolution” off of automatic and to begin “steering” it. A new creation and a new redemption are being announced. What can it all possibly signify and what are the possible implications for all of us?

6 Terrifying New Weapons Being Created by the Pentagon

Saturday, February 5th, 2011 - by Terry Melanson

Nick Turse - January 31, 2011

Here is the Pentagon’s battlefield vision of tomorrow.

In the future, the power of magnetism will be harnessed to make today’s high explosives seem feeble, “guided bullets” will put the current crop of snipers to shame, and new multi-purpose missiles will strike targets in a flash from high-flying drones. At least, that’s part of the Pentagon’s battlefield vision of tomorrow’s tomorrow.

Ordinarily, planning for the future is not a U.S. government forte. A mere glance at the national debt, now around $14 trillion and climbing, or two recent studies showing how China’s green technology investments have outpaced U.S. efforts should drive home that fact. But one government agency is always forward-looking, the Department of Defense’s blue skies research branch, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

The Rise of the New Global Elite

Chrystia Freeland - 2011/01

F. Scott Fitzgerald was right when he declared the rich different from you and me. But today’s super-rich are also different from Yesterday’s: more hardworking and meritocratic, but less connected to the nations that granted them opportunity - and the countrymen they are leaving ever further behind.
