Secret summit of top bankers

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 - by Terry Melanson

George Lekakis and Fleur Leyden - February 06, 2010

THE world’s top central bankers began arriving in Australia yesterday as renewed fears about the strength of the global economic recovery gripped world share markets.

Representatives from 24 central banks and monetary authorities including the US Federal Reserve and European Central Bank landed in Sydney to meet tomorrow at a secret location, the Herald Sun reports.

Organised by the Bank for International Settlements last year, the two-day talks are shrouded in secrecy with high-level security believed to have been invoked by law enforcement agencies.

Speculation that the chairman of the US Federal Reserve, Dr Ben Bernanke, would make an appearance could not be confirmed last night.

Liberalism and the Search for the Ground: Another Visit with Eric Voegelin

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 - by Terry Melanson

Thomas F. Bertonneau - 2010-02-07

The Geert Wilders trial in the Netherlands reminds us how much the Western elites, those who currently control the society and wish to use their authority to alter and reconstitute the established order, have parted company with longstanding Western traditions. The mutation of classical liberalism into contemporary politically correct totalitarianism is not surprising, however, since liberalism began as the cautious younger sibling of the revolutionary spirit that found its emblem in the destruction of the Bourbons and the declaration of equality, fraternity, and liberty as the new mandatory themes of human order. Quite apart from the fact of their vain abstraction, those slogans implied from the beginning implacable hostility to custom and habit. The new republican-type nation-states that followed the model of France arose, as had the French Republic, through the violent disestablishment of the smaller, ethnic polities that characterized the long period of feudalism. Insofar as Western Society still exhibits coherency, much of that coherency derives from the period before the emergence of the modern republics. Western society is what it is, therefore, because it stands in a continuum of vital experience and articulate symbolization stemming from those oddly matched wellsprings, Greek philosophy and Hebrew morality, in their unlikely, long-term cultural dialectic as mediated by a thousand years of many local manifestations of Gothic Christianity.

Vermont Eugenics Survey Regretted

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 - by Terry Melanson

ACLU blog

The House Human Services Committee heard powerful testimony Tuesday concerning a resolution seeking acknowledgment and an apology for the state’s sterilization of “idiots, imbeciles, feeble-minded, or insane persons” in the 1930s.

The testimony came largely from Abenaki, who said Native peoples were targeted for the mistreatment. Judy Dow of the Vermont Commission for Native American Affairs said Italians and Irish may also have been targets.

The ACLU supports people’s right to make reproductive choices. The Vermont Eugenics Survey — when the state took away this right through supposed “voluntary” sterilization — was one of the grossest violations of individual freedom in Vermont’s history.

If committee members had misgivings about the resolution, the misgivings concerned whether it went far enough.

Sterilization was only one piece of a concerted effort by the state to break up families, Dow said.

Annapolis woman investigates Mozart’s death

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 - by Terry Melanson

Theresa Winslow - 02/07/10

Helen Brockmeyer just got out of a 20-year relationship, so it’s understandable that she’s been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster lately. But at least she’s got a lot to show for it.

The Annapolis resident’s relationship, or maybe a better word would be obsession, was with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - and it ended in December when she released her exhaustive book about the Austrian composer. Specifically, about his death in 1791.

Brockmeyer spent two decades and tens of thousands of dollars investigating her theory that Mozart was murdered. She even learned German and worked as an au pair in Germany so she could personally visit the composer’s stomping grounds.

The 55-year-old spurns accepted dogma about an illness claiming Mozart’s life, and instead believes his throat was slashed by Freemasons as retribution for insulting an Austrian prince. Mozart and the prince were both Freemasons, but the prince’s aristocratic standing spelled disaster for the composer when the complaint was aired, she said. Her exact reasoning is spelled out in great detail in the 452-page, textbook-size “Echoes of a Distant Crime: Resolving the Mozart Cold Case File.”

Full story

Interesting stuff. I, for one, will surely pick up a copy.

Through a bit of poking around at the Mozart forum and at Brockmeyer’s site, the main culprit in the alleged murder seems to be Illuminatus Prince Christian Karl von Lichnowsky. Here’s a short bio on him from my book Perfectibilists (p. 349):

Three Hastings councillors have been revealed as Freemasons – including the head of planning and the man driving the £100million link road scheme.

Conservatives Terry Fawthrop, Matthew Lock and John Wilson are all members of the clandestine organisation which has at its heart a pledge to help out other masons.

The Observer made the discovery after trawling through council records at the town hall – records which carry details of councillors’ outside interests.

Kate Linthicum and DeeDee Correll - February 4, 2010

Reporting from Los Angeles and Denver - Self-help guru James Arthur Ray was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of manslaughter in connection with an Arizona sweat lodge ceremony that left three people dead in October.

Problems of Transhumanism: Liberal Democracy vs. Technocratic Absolutism

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 - by Terry Melanson

J. Hughes - Jan 23, 2010

Transhumanists, like Enlightenment partisans in general, believe that human nature can be improved but are conflicted about whether liberal democracy is the best path to betterment. The liberal tradition within the Enlightenment has argued that individuals are best at finding their own interests and should be left to improve themselves in self-determined ways. But many people are mistaken about their own best interests, and more rational elites may have a better understanding of the general good. Enlightenment partisans have often made a case for modernizing monarchs and scientific dictatorships. Transhumanists need to confront this tendency to disparage liberal democracy in favor of the rule by dei ex machina and technocratic elites.

Enlightenment Liberalism and Enlightened Despotism

The Enlightenment rationale for liberalism, most powerfully articulated in Mill’s On Liberty, was that if individuals are given liberty they will generally know how to pursue their interests and potentials better than will anyone else. So, society generally will become richer and more intelligent if individuals are free to choose their own life ends rather than if they are forced towards betterment by the powers that be. In order to ensure that all interests and views of the good are equally weighed in the marketplace of ideas and expressed in collective decision-making, society should guarantee free debate and equal legal and political empowerment. The most radical expression of these ideals was liberal and social democracy, which are often assumed to be the consensual political ideal of the Enlightenment.

In fact, Enlightenment philosophers were intensely conflicted about the virtues of powerful monarchies and technocratic elites versus popular democracy. Some believed an absolute state was the best form of governance. Thomas Hobbes argued that political absolutism was necessary to prevent the war of “all against all.” Voltaire said that he “would rather obey one lion, than 200 rats of [his own] species.”

Carbon Currency: A New Beginning for Technocracy?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 - by Terry Melanson

Patrick Wood - January 26, 2010

Critics who think that the U.S. dollar will be replaced by some new global currency are perhaps thinking too small.

On the world horizon looms a new global currency that could replace all paper currencies and the economic system upon which they are based.

The new currency, simply called Carbon Currency, is designed to support a revolutionary new economic system based on energy (production, and consumption), instead of price. Our current price-based economic system and its related currencies that have supported capitalism, socialism, fascism and communism, is being herded to the slaughterhouse in order to make way for a new carbon-based world.

t is plainly evident that the world is laboring under a dying system of price-based economics as evidenced by the rapid decline of paper currencies. The era of fiat (irredeemable paper currency) was introduced in 1971 when President Richard Nixon decoupled the U.S. dollar from gold. Because the dollar-turned-fiat was the world’s primary reserve asset, all other currencies eventually followed suit, leaving us today with a global sea of paper that is increasingly undesired, unstable, unusable.

The deathly economic state of today’s world is a direct reflection of the sum of its sick and dying currencies, but this could soon change.

Russian Journalist Sparks Furor by Suggesting Infanticide for Disabled Newborns

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 - by Terry Melanson

Steven Ertelt - February 8, 2010

Moscow, Russia (LifeNews.com) — A Russian journalist has sparked furor by suggesting that newborn children who are mentally disabled should be killed. Aleksandr Nikonov wrote an article titled “Finish Them Off, So They Don’t Suffer,” which called “post-natal abortion” an act of mercy.

Nikonov argues that the birth of a disabled child for many families would be an unbearable tragedy, “a hell”, and that “the killing of the newborn is in fact the same as an abortion.”

He says depriving infants, who will never be able to take care of themselves, of life is “true humanism” and calls to give parents of such children a right to euthanize their newborns in the same way the elderly are killed in euthanasia.

Nikonov, who writes for the popular tabloid Speed-Info,also used the word “debil” — a deeply offensive term in Russian — to characterize children with developmental disabilities.

America’s Impending Master Class Dictatorship

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 - by Terry Melanson

Stewart Dougherty - Jan 22 2010

FOREWORD: At certain times, focusing on the big picture is important not just for investment success, but for personal welfare, and even survival. We believe such times are here. It is estimated that 98% of Americans have never held a gold coin in their hands. Yet 100% of Americans regularly handle Federal Reserve Notes. From a contrarian standpoint, the financial message from those two statistics is clear. Even so, gold is much more than money or an investment medium; it stands for liberty and throughout history has facilitated escape and ensured freedom. Never having touched a gold coin is the monetary equivalent to never having breathed fresh air, felt the warmth of sunshine, looked up at the stars or risen from the gutter. Fiat Federal Reserve Notes are becoming nothing more than sewage decomposing in the vast, toxic septic tank of predatory Washington politics, epic Federal Reserve arrogance and error, blatant Wall Street fraud and outright Master Class plunder. Below, we outline America’s troubling and compounding predicament, and urge you to think about how to protect yourself from its consequences, both financially and personally.

Thanks to the endless barrage of feel-good propaganda that daily assaults the American mind, best epitomized a few months ago by the “green shoots,” everything’s-coming-up-roses propaganda touted by Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke, the citizens have no idea how disastrous the country’s fiscal, monetary and economic problems truly are. Nor do they perceive the rapidly increasing risk of a totalitarian nightmare descending upon the American Republic.

One stark and sobering way to frame the crisis is this: if the United States government were to nationalize (in other words, steal) every penny of private wealth accumulated by America’s citizens since the nation’s founding 235 years ago, the government would remain totally bankrupt.

The Latest Shenanigans of Benjamin Creme, the so-called “prophet of Maitreya”

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010 - by Terry Melanson

Creme, according to Share International, being overshadowed by Maitreya. Spooky stuff.

Creme, according to Share International, being overshadowed (possessed) by Maitreya. Spooky stuff.

I spend way too much time on the web, endlessly reading and searching. It was no different today: for the better part of the afternoon I was preoccupied with chasing down Creme and his latest Maitreya “revelation.” Usually, these extended sessions end with me closing up the tabs in my browser and forcing myself to concentrate on something more productive. Before I do that this time, however, I decided to at least post an FYI.

It started with this post at Red Ice Creations, having the enticing headline: “Maitreya steps forward! The Norway Spiral (Star Sign) Heralds ‘New Age Messiah’”. Typically, Creme took advantage of the Norway spiral as a sign heralding the “imminent” appearance of his long-touted World Teacher/Messiah.

Creme has been claiming, since at least 1982, that this Maitreya would soon appear on American television and announce that he was the long awaited Messiah, in a spectacular performance dubbed the “Day of Declaration.”

Depopulation by Government Edict

Depopulation by Government Edict

Stop EugenicsDeanna Spingola | 2010-01-31 - In 1922, Margaret Sanger wrote The Pivot of Civilization with an introduction by eugenicist H. G. Wells. The Rockefeller Foundation “enthusiastically supported the concept of ‘eugenics,’ which encourages the reproductive efforts of those deemed to have ‘good’ genes, while discouraging or stopping procreation by undesirables. But Rockefeller and others were anxious to go even further to mold America’s breeding patterns along evolutionary lines.” John D. Rockefeller Jr., per the advice of Raymond B. Fosdick, provided financial backing for Margaret Sanger’s Planned Parenthood movement. Sanger, a feminist and birth control activist established the first family planning clinics in New York City. Several U.S.foundations financed eugenic research, including the Carnegie Institution, which funded Davenport’s eugenic studies at Cold Spring Harbor, and the Rockefeller Foundation, which gave grants in the 1930s for eugenic research at the Galton Laboratory at University College in London and to the Cornell Medical School in New York.
