VFTB: Paul & Phillip Collins — Survival of the Richest / Interfering in Iran

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

WE ARE pleased to welcome back to this site the remarkable brothers Collins, Paul and Phillip, authors of the excellent book The Ascendancy of the Scientific Dictatorship: An Examination of Epistemic Autocracy, From the 19th to the 21st Century. It’s been far too long since we’ve talked, and so tonight we try to make up for that long drought with a two-part interview about two of their recent articles.

Paul and Phil collaborated on “Survival of the Richest: Obama’s Corporate Stimulus Package”, and Paul recently penned the analysis “Silencing the Saber-Rattling: How the American Empire Threatens the Potential Iranian Counter-Revolution”.

They discuss the roots of the Obama/Pelosi/Reed stimulus package in social Darwinism and what they term a Promethean faith, the Luciferian concept of self-salvation, and the true impact of American intervention in the budding Iranian revolution.

Addendum: After calling for an investigation into the use of federal stimulus dollars to subsidize the relocation of NCR from Dayton to Georgia, Congressman Michael Turner (R-Ohio-3) received an official response from Vice President Joseph Biden last Wednesday. According to Turner, Biden stated that stimulus funds “would not be granted” to relocate already existing jobs from one state to another.

As for Georgia, Turner stated that the state will have to tap other financial reservoirs to compensate for the $5 million in stimulus money that is no longer part of the NCR incentive package. However, according to Turner, there remains a danger of Georgia using other inappropriate sources of capital to facilitate the NCR deal.

“Georgia is free to seek other funding sources to accomplish their goal of, in effect, buying jobs from our community by funding NCR’s relocation,” Turner said. “The problem with the stimulus is that the monies are fungible. So, even though Biden won’t let Georgia use stimulus funds, we do have to be concerned that there could be shell games going on, where they’re moving monies around in order to accomplish this project.”

Council On Foreign Relations

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

James Perloff - 23 July 2009

During his presidential campaign, Barack Obama consistently promised Americans “change.” Such promises aren’t new to the voting public.

When Jimmy Carter ran for president, he said: “The people of this country know from bitter experience that we are not going to get … changes merely by shifting around the same group of insiders.” And top Carter aide Hamilton Jordan promised: “If, after the inauguration, you find a Cy Vance as Secretary of State and Zbigniew Brzezinski as head of National Security, then I would say we failed. And I’d quit.” Yet Carter selected Vance as Secretary of State and Brzezinski as National Security Adviser; the “same group of insiders” had been shifted around; and Jordan did not quit.

Carter’s administration was dominated by members of the Trilateral Commission, which had been founded by Brzezinski and David Rockefeller. In 1980, when Ronald Reagan was campaigning against Carter, he protested:

I don’t believe that the Trilateral Commission is a conspiratorial group, but I do think its interests are devoted to international banking, multinational corporations, and so forth. I don’t think that any Administration of the U.S. Government should have the top nineteen positions filled by people from any one group or organization representing one viewpoint. No, I would go in a different direction.

Strange New Air Force Facility Energizes Ionosphere, Fans Conspiracy Flames

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

Noah Shachtman - 07.20.09

Todd Pedersen had to hustle—the sky was scheduled to start glowing soon, and he didn’t want to miss it. It was just before sunset, a cold February evening in deep-woods Alaska, and the broad-shouldered US Air Force physicist was scrambling across the snow in his orange down parka and fur-lined bomber hat. Grabbing cables and electronics, he rushed to assemble a jury-rigged telescope atop a crude wooden platform.

The rig wasn’t much, just a pair of high-sensitivity cameras packed into a dorm-room refrigerator and pointed at a curved mirror reflecting a panoramic view of the sky. Pedersen had hoped to monitor the camera feed from a relatively warm bunkhouse nearby. But powdery snow two feet deep made it difficult to string cables back to the building.

As darkness closed in, Pedersen tried to get the second imager working—with no luck—and the first one began snapping pictures. A few minutes before seven, throbbing arcs of green and red light began to form on his monitor, eventually coalescing into an egg shape. Other shards of light shimmered, gathered into a jagged ring, and spun around the oval center. “This is really good stuff,” Pedersen cooed. This wasn’t just another aurora borealis triggered by solar winds; this one Pedersen made himself. He did it with the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (Haarp): a $250 million facility with a 30-acre array of antennas capable of spewing 3.6 megawatts of energy into the mysterious plasma of the ionosphere.

European Court Ruling spells an end to water fluoridation

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

Doug Cross - 10th May 2009

Fluoridated water must be treated as a medicine, and cannot be used to prepare foods. That is the decision of the European Court of Justice, in a landmark case dealing with the classification and regulation of ‘functional drinks’ in member states of the European Community. (HLH Warenvertriebs and Orthica (Joined Cases C-211/03, C-299/03, C-316/03 and C-318/03) 9 June 2005)

Functional drinks are those products that have two different purposes – for example, nutrition and exerting a positive effect on some medical condition. They include ‘near-water drinks with added minerals’ and, in view of the properties claimed for fluoridated water by fluoride advocates, it must be classified as a ‘funtional food’, and therefore falls within the scope of the relevant legislation.

The Bilderberg Group

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

Bret Burquest - July 21, 2009

It has been said that power corrupts. But the ultimate truth is that positions of power attract the corruptible among us.
In 1954, a group of powerful men and women met in the Bilderberg Hotel in Holland to form an alliance whose purpose was to organize the world in a manner suitable to their liking.

This alliance, known as the Bilderberg Group, was made up of 120 prominent businessmen, politicians and European royalty, and has held annual meetings ever since in posh locations in Europe or North America to influence the fate of the world.

These annual meetings are held in total secrecy Reporters and other outsiders are prevented from attending, or even entering the premises, by armed security forces, and not a word of what is said in a Bilderberg meeting can be breathed outside. Meetings are held behind closed doors and the minutes are not published.

The Mystical 7 Secret Society: A History

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

The beginnings of the Mystical 7, and most American college fraternities, can be traced to the influence of Freemasonry in early American society.

Freemasonic influence had peeked directly after the revolution, and a few Greek Letter societies, including Phi Beta Kappa at William and Mary in 1776, and Kappa Alpha at Union College in 1825, were formed in rough emulation of the Masonic structure.

Mystical 7: A History

by Benjamin Wyatt-Greene

The definitive “Cyclopaedia of Fraternities,” first published by Albert C. Stevens in 1907 contains a short, two-line entry: “The Mystical 7, which is now thought to be dead, was in some respects one of the most remarkable and most ambitious college societies in the country.”1 Confusion over whether the Mystical Seven Society is dead has continued for well over a century and controversy still exists as to what present-day organization represents its legitimate philosophical heir, with histories occasionally being re-interpreted and re-written to support competing claims. However the relevant fact that emerges from research is that the Mystical 7 played an active part in a number of the major philosophical and educational movements of the 19th century and spawned and influenced a number of organizations and societies, some of which continue to exist today. Records exist detailing the correspondences and inner workings of the society, but its larger historical and philosophical progression has never been objectively catalogued in any detail. It is this wider scope which I am trying to explore and I would therefore refer readers to my end notes, my bibliography, and the Wesleyan University Archives if they wish to research specific traditions and symbols within the normal functionings of the society.

Former leader of Hampton Roads Shriners arrested on child porn charges

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

(WTKR-TV) A Shriner - known for his charitable work with children - is now accused of having a thousand graphic images and video of child porn.

Ray Highsmith is in federal custody, accused of downloading the illegal files off a website and saving them on a home computer.

An ear to ear grin topped with a red-fez. That is how most people at Khedive Shrine Temple would likely remember Ray Highsmith, their potentate, or leader, in 1995 and an active Shriner since.

Court documents uncovered by News Channel-3 reveal a different side to the 68-year-old, one that suggests that in his time away from helping burnt children as a Shriner he collected pornographic pictures of children at home.

Through billing records, federal agents say they found out that Highsmith had a membership to a child pornography website and that he later admitted to having two memberships.

When investigators seized his computers, they say they found even more proof - a thousand- pornographic pictures and seven videos. Some of them portraying sadomasochism.

The NSA wiretapping story nobody wanted

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

Whistleblower Mark Klein tells in his new book of how he was ignored. He spoke with IDG News.

Robert McMillan - July 17, 2009

p>The cliché doesn’t seem far off the mark after reading Mark Klein’s new book, “Wiring up the Big Brother Machine … and Fighting It.” It’s an account of his experiences as the whistleblower who exposed a secret room at a Folsom Street facility in San Francisco that was apparently used to monitor the Internet communications of ordinary Americans.

Klein, 64, was a retired AT&T communications technician in December 2005, when he read the New York Times story that blew the lid off the Bush administration’s warrantless wiretapping program. Secretly authorized in 2002, the program lets the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) monitor telephone conversations and e-mail messages of people inside the U.S. to identify suspected terrorists. Klein knew right away that he had proof — documents from his time at AT&T — that could provide a snapshot of how the program was siphoning data off of the AT&T network in San Francisco.

Amazingly, however, nobody wanted to hear his story. In his book he talks about meetings with reporters and privacy groups that went nowhere until a fateful January 20, 2006, meeting with Kevin Bankston of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). Bankston was preparing a lawsuit that he hoped would put a stop to the wiretap program, and Klein was just the kind of witness the EFF was looking for.

With the EFF on board, Klein was briefly a media celebrity — the man who had the guts to expose the NSA’s secret wiretapping program. In his book he provides the documents and the stories that illustrate how all of this transpired.

Klein has been politically active since the 1960s, when he protested the Vietnam war. “I came to view the government with great suspicion like a lot of people back then and I still do,” he said in an interview he granted the IDG News service on Friday. “I guess that sort of laid the groundwork for my later experience, because I didn’t trust the government to begin with.”

Today he lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Linda, and his two dogs. He self-published his book last week.

9/11 and Cyberterrorism: Did the real “cyber 9/11″ happen on 9/11?

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

James Corbett - 17 July, 2009

Government sources immediately began blaming North Korea for the recent cyberterror attacks on South Korea and the U.S., despite having no evidence to back up those claims. Now, an examination of the evidence by independent computer experts show that the attack seems to have been coordinated from the UK. The hysterical media coverage in the attack's wake, however, echoing the government line that it was likely the work of North Korea, served to cement in the minds of many that this was an act of cyberwarfare.

The idea that this surprisingly unsophisticated attack could have come from a well-organized, hostile state or terrorist group comes as a blessing in disguise to those groups, agencies and advisors who have been calling for greater and greater federal snooping powers in the name of stopping a "cyber 9/11" from happening.

The "cyber 9/11" meme stretches back almost to 9/11 itself. Back in 2003, Mike McConnell, the ex-director of the National Security Agency (NSA), was fearmongering over the possibility of a cyber attack "equivalent to the attack on the World Trade Center" if a new institution were not created to oversee cyber security. Since then, report after report has continued to use the horror of 9/11 as a way of raising public hysteria over "cyber terrorism," a subject more often associated with juvenile hackers and lone misfits than radical terrorist organizations.

Freemasonry: “When man reaches new worlds, Masonry will be there.”

Click for Larger View. Notice the symbolism of the issue as well - Vol. 77, No. 11.

The above was a quote from the December 1969 issue of the The New Age Magazine, the official magazine of the Supreme Council 33° A.&A. Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of the Southern Jurisdiction, Washington, D.C. (See the details here.) Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., 32°, visited the Scottish Rite headquarters at the House of the Temple in Washington, September 16, 1969, after the historic moon landing of Apollo 11, and brought back the Freemasonic flag that he took with him to the moon.

The Apollo program was rife with Masons; they were proud of being involved, and weren’t shy about advertising the fact.

In the November 1969 edition of The New Age Magazine, there is an extensive article by Kenneth S. Kleinknecht, 33°, the Manager of the Apollo Program Command and Service Modules; Deputy Manager, Gemini Program; Manager, Project Mercury.

On page 13, we read:

Note how many of the astronauts themselves are Brother Masons: Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr.; L. Gordon Cooper, Jr.; Donn F. Eisle; Walter M. Schirra; Thomas P. Stafford; Edgar D. Mitchell, and Paul J. Weitz. Before his tragic death in a flash fire at Cape Kennedy on January 27, 1967, Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom was a Mason, too. Astronaut Gordon Cooper, during his epochal Gemini V spaceflight in August of 1965, carried with him an official Thirty-third Degree Jewel and a Scottish Rite flag. Via the lunar plaque, the Masonic ensignia and flag, and the Masonic astronauts themselves – Masonry already is in the space age. Can we doubt Freemasonry and its spiritual relevance to the modern era when even its material representatives have today made historic inroads into the infinite expanses of outer space?

Was Dr. David Kelly a Target of Dick Cheney’s “Executive Assassination Ring”?

Sunday, July 19th, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

Antifascist - July 17, 2009

Revelations that the Central Intelligence Agency launched a world-wide assassination program, and then concealed its existence from the U.S. Congress and the American people for eight years, carries an implication that death squads may have been employed against political opponents.

The Wall Street Journal reported July 13 that “A secret Central Intelligence Agency initiative terminated by Director Leon Panetta was an attempt to carry out a 2001 presidential authorization to capture or kill al Qaeda operatives, according to former intelligence officials familiar with the matter.”

Investigative journalist Siobhan Gorman writes, “The precise nature of the highly classified effort isn’t clear, and the CIA won’t comment on its substance.”

The Washington Post however, revealed July 16 that the assassination plan was sanctioned by President Bush. Unnamed “intelligence officials” told the newspaper that “a secret document known as a ‘presidential finding’ was signed by President George W. Bush that same month, granting the agency broad authority to use deadly force against bin Laden as well as other senior members of al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups.”

Too Many (Other) People

Sunday, July 19th, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

William N. Grigg on the population control (reduction) establishment.

Choice excerpt:

These malignant proposals are not just flatulent thought-bubbles blown in languid speculation by fringe eccentrics in the academic realm: With the exception — as far as we know — of mass involuntary sterilization through covert chemical or biological warfare, every method of coercive population control described above has been implemented somewhere with the material aid of the United Nations and its affiliates, and the practical support of organizations such as Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes International.

Every argument on behalf of state-imposed population control rejects the concept of individual self-ownership and assumes that human lives – individually and in the aggregate – are a resource to be managed by society’s supervisors on behalf of the “common good.” And, as Ruth Bader Ginsburg correctly intuited in 1973, the Roe vs. Wade decision was a triumph, albeit an incomplete one, for the cause of eugenicist population control.

“Green” Global Government Agenda Becoming More Evident

Sunday, July 19th, 2009 - by Terry Melanson

Rothschild Bank Vice-Chairman: “Governments must be prepared to allow some subordination of national interests to this world initiative…”

Old-Thinker News | July 13, 2009

By Daniel Taylor

“What if a small group of world leaders were to conclude that the principal risk to the Earth [environment] comes from the actions of the rich countries?… So, in order to save the planet, the group decides: Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about? This group of world leaders form a secret society to bring about an economic collapse.” - Maurice Strong, May, 1990 interview with West Magazine describing a “novel” that he would like to write

These candid comments from Maurice Strong, the first director of the United Nations Environmental Program, carry an especially eerie tone in the context of recent events.

Daniel Estulin, who has been chasing Bilderberg for many years, covered the 2006 meeting held in Ottawa Canada. Bilderberg attendees have included Heads of State, Mayors, business leaders, and members of the press. Investigative journalist Jim Tucker confirmed that Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner attended the 2009 meeting in Athens, Greece.
