The Council on Foreign Relations and Tacks’ Tackle Shop

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

John W. Wallace - New York Campaign for Liberty (24/11/08)

When I was growing up in the Inwood section of upper Manhattan, I remember when I was about 12 or 13 years old I had my first contact with discovering what a “front” was for another business.  It was called Tack’s Tackle Shop.  When it first opened, it looked like just another business. The guy in the store, Tack, was selling fishing rods, live bait and an array of fishing equipment. It didn’t take long before the kids in the neighborhood figured out that perhaps there was something else going on.  The live bait in the window wasn’t alive anymore and local hoods and gangster type people seemed to be going in and out, particularly in the evenings and none of them looked like fishermen. It wasn’t long before the place was raided by the NYCPD and my friends and I all watched from across the street on Sherman Avenue as “Tack” came out in handcuffs along with a bunch of other men.  We were later told that Tack’s Tackle Shop had actually been a front for an illegal gambling operation.

A “front group” can be any entity that is set up to appear to be a legitimate independent organization, like Tack’s Tackle Shop, when it is actually controlled from behind the scenes by another organization or group of individuals. These front groups are often legitimate businesses, social or political organizations, professional groups, advocacy groups, research organizations, etc. Organized crime has used legitimate front organizations for many decades to launder their income from various illegal activities. Pharmaceutical companies have used front organizations to advocate for the drugs they manufacture. International terrorist organizations have their front groups here in the United States and as the evidence clearly shows, so do the international bankers.

After researching the formation and activities of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) it appears that it may be a very sophisticated version of “Tack’s Tackle Shop.” The CFR was specifically set up to carry out the goals and objectives of  international bankers so that the public positions taken by the CFR would appear to be independent positions that could not be directly connected to the international bankers who personally control and fund the CFR.

Global Warming? Bring it On!

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Gregory Young - November 21, 2008

The argument propounded by the dubious United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report on Anthropogenic (human-induced) Global Warming (AGW) is willfully fraudulent. The report has been vigorously and critically undermined, scientifically denounced and found wanting from both notable scientists here and abroad.

In spite of this fact, it is likely that the new U.S. Democratic Congress and Administration will once again proclaim that they know better than we do about such things.  Get ready for them to move surreptitiously under the guise of Global Climate Control in an effort to enhance their own legacies and pocketbooks.  To be sure, the Left hears nothing but their own incestuous voices, despite the voices of clarity and reason that abound around them.  And there are many, many distinguished dissenters against the charade of AGW.

Deflating the Churchill Myth

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Eric Margolis - November 18, 2008

Much of the Western world just honored the millions of soldiers fallen in the two world wars. But we also need to look beyond postwar myths and understand the tragic political mistakes that sent these soldiers to die in wars that might have been avoided.

In his powerful new book, Hitler, Churchill and the Unnecessary War, veteran politician and author Pat Buchanan challenges many historic taboos by claiming that Winston Churchill plunged Britain and its empire, including Canada, into wars whose outcome was disastrous for all concerned.

Other writers, me included, have made the same point for decades, but Buchanan has marshaled a formidable array of facts and historians to support his case.

Could Obama ‘Pull a JFK’ in Office? Kennedy-Obama Parallels Intriguing

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Michael Collins Piper - (Issue # 48, December 1, 2008)

BARACK OBAMA ENTHUSIASTS who were angered by the appointment of Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff, are hoping Obama will “pull a JFK” and work around Emanuel—a hawkish advocate for Israel—and those powerful pro-Israel families in Chicago who helped elect Obama.

One of John F. Kennedy’s first appointments was Myer Feldman as his point man for Jewish and Israeli affairs—an important post, considering the Jewish lobby was suspicious of JFK’s commitment to Israel.

Says author Seymour Hersh, “the president viewed Feldman, whose strong support for Israel was widely known, as a necessary evil whose highly visible White House position was a political debt that had to be paid.”

However, JFK was determined to make certain that nobody—Feldman in particular—could circumvent any of his Middle East policy intentions: Hersh has written that “the president’s most senior advisors, most acutely McGeorge Bundy, the national security advisor, desperately sought to cut Feldman out of the flow of Middle East paperwork.”

Black and white Masonic groups officially recognize each other

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

News Observer | Nov 22, 2008

RALEIGH - Members of the state’s two Masonic organizations — one black, one white — ended 138 years of mutual disregard Friday by signing a resolution recognizing each other as brother Masons.

The resolution, signed near the end of a nearly two-hour ceremony full of formality and speeches, ended a vestige of the segregation era, during which the two groups — one white, the other black — spent decades following the ancient tenets and teachings of freemasonry while each pretended the other didn’t exist.

“Today’s a historic day, because we’re here to say we’re brothers again,” said David Cash, a Methodist minister from Kannapolis and grand master of the white group, the Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of North Carolina.

US Intelligence: EU will be a ‘hobbled giant’ by 2025

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Cranmer - November 22, 2008

Actually, EU Observer says that Europe will be a ‘hobbled giant’, but it never ceases to amaze Cranmer the extent to which Europe is becoming synonymous with the EU, despite 21 of Europe’s 48 nation states residing without its confines (22 if you include Vatican City, which could never, of course, ‘pool’ its sovereignty with the EU). While the EU may now constitute the majority of European states, 46 per cent have not been absorbed, harmonised or ‘normalised’ (yet).

This is Change. 20 Hawks, Clintonites and Neocons to Watch for in Obama’s White House

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Jeremy Scahill - November 22, 2008

U.S. policy is not about one individual, and no matter how much faith people place in President-elect Barack Obama, the policies he enacts will be fruit of a tree with many roots. Among them: his personal politics and views, the disastrous realities his administration will inherit, and, of course, unpredictable future crises. But the best immediate indicator of what an Obama administration might look like can be found in the people he surrounds himself with and who he appoints to his Cabinet. And, frankly, when it comes to foreign policy, it is not looking good.

Brainwashing Children Through Social Science

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

Erica Carle - November 22, 2008

We have founded the new Science of Sociology, and as a deduction from Sociology, the Universal Religion. Auguste Comte, System of Positive Polity (SPP), Vol.2, 1852, 344.

The final blow was inevitably given to Theology . . . when the establishment of my system of Sociology cut from under it its old title to teach Morality and direct Society . . .SPP, Vol. 2, 290.

In a word the new doctrine will institute the worship of Woman, publicly and privately, in a far more perfect way than has ever before been possible. It is the first permanent step towards the worship of Humanity. SPP, Vol. I, 1851, P.2

Consequently it is the primary condition of social reorganization to put an end to the state of utter revolt which the Intellect maintains against the Heart . . . Positivism has at last overcome the immense difficulties of this task . . . every part of our nature is brought under the regenerating influence of the worship of Humanity. Thus a new spiritual power will arise . . . better calculated than Catholicism to engage the support of women which is so necessary to its efficient action on society. SPP, Vol. I, 1851, P. 285-287

The Potential Rerun Of Operation Ajax

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

DotConnector - November 22, 2008

The scene is a London townhouse near Victoria. The heir to the throne of Iran, the eldest son of the late Shah, is holding court before a small audience of Iranian exiles and Middle East analysts crowded into the living room. It is a far cry from the sumptuous palaces of his father in Tehran, now transformed into museums by the Islamic Republic. But Reza Pahlavi (who answers to both “Your Majesty” and Mr Pahlavi), is plotting his return to the land he was forced to leave as a teenager when the 1979 revolution brought militant Shiism to power.

His strategy: to use the internet to link Iranians inside and outside the country and – with the help of international pressure – secure regime change.

Joint Intelligence DNA Database Described

Monday, November 24th, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

(Secrecy News) Scattered details of a little-known U.S. government database containing the DNA of suspected terrorists were gathered and reported today in the Financial Times.  See “Fears over Covert DNA Database” by Stephen Fidler.

The Joint Federal Agencies [or more often: Antiterrorism] Intelligence DNA Database (JFAIDD) is described in a 2007 briefing slide (pdf) as “a searchable database of DNA profiles from detainees and known or suspected terrorists.”

The JFAIDD contains 15,000 DNA profiles, according to a 2007 report of the Defense Science Board, with “a queue of 30,000 new samples in the laboratory and 400 [pending] requests for DNA profiles, searches, or comparisons.”  See “Defense Biometrics” (pdf, at page 32).

The collection of the DNA samples was described in a 2006 Army document.  “U.S. military units shall collect two buccal [intra-oral cheek] swabs from each person.”  See “Biometric Collection, Transmission and Storage Standards” (pdf), U.S. Army Biometrics Task Force, July 24, 2006 (at pp. 21-22).

“The FBI has been collecting biological evidence from improvised explosive devices (IEDs) removed from Iraq and Afghanistan and databasing the mtDNA profiles from this evidence since February 2004,” the Justice Department said in its 2009 budget justification book for the FBI (pdf).  “Only occasionally can these profiles be compared to reference samples from suspected terrorists or their maternal relatives.”

“Collecting DNA from detainees and obtaining the mtDNA profiles from these samples has the potential to provide excellent actionable intelligence in the Global War on Terror through comparison with evidence already analyzed…”

But “The FBI can process [only] two samples every three days using manual methods.  Given this rate, the DNA Analysis Unit… cannot keep up with the collection of these samples and would likely lose valuable intelligence from the lag time required to analyze these samples.”

The Justice Department therefore requested funding to automate the DNA analysis process, to permit analysis of 40 samples a day, five days a week so as to keep pace with the anticipated delivery of “approximately 9,000 samples per year from detainees of the U.S. government.”  See the 2009 FBI budget justification (at page 6-112).

Gladio prosecutor Casson: Parliamentary commission with special powers a must

Friday, November 21st, 2008 - by Terry Melanson

ALİ İHSAN AYDIN - 12 November 2008

“Towards the end of the investigation, I received a letter. It said: ‘You have come to the door of power. If you try to enter through that door, we do not know what may happen.’

I pushed that door ajar and saw what was inside,” Felice Casson says. Thus the famous Italian prosecutor first uncovered the illegal armed network, Gladio.

He stresses that a prosecutor or a judge cannot enter and go it alone. Having served as an example for many prosecutors in other European countries with his historic investigation in Italy, Casson asserts that powerful political support is a must for the success of any fight against illegal networks such as Gladio or Ergenekon. “A parliamentary commission equipped with special powers should be set up. Prosecutors can go up to a point. But this commission can go wherever it wishes if the government is determined,” he says.

The prosecutor is now a member of the Italian Senate, but without the support of then-Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti, he could not have overcome all the difficulties he faced during the Gladio investigation, including vociferous opposition from the president. In his office in the Senate in Rome, the Italian politician spoke to Today’s Zaman about his experiences and the difficulties in his quest to fight Gladio.

For the prosecutor, networks such as Gladio and Ergenekon are only pawns. There are many other illegal networks apart from Gladio in Italy. There is a “power” above that manages all of them, and nobody knows much about this power. Depending on circumstances that change with time, some organizations may be used and wound up, but the “power at the top” continues to assert itself using different means. The prosecutor was even able to jail some generals at the end of the investigation, but wasn’t able to touch the whole of the network.
