Even though Newton was a man that seemingly needed to understand,research,and prove his theories he held high his belief in God and God's role in all things earthly. Why would a man that commited his whole life to science and mathematics and the discovery of why things are study religion and credit all things to God? Maybe because his belief in God and all things he created was just as important as his discovery of things in Math and science. It seems as if he needed to prove things before publishing or presenting them to others and just maybe his didn't publish his occult findings because they were meant to be given to the Holy Land for some reason. I believe Sir Isaac Newton was a man who strived to understand all that was a mystery to better help and guide us and give us a clear understanding. Why can't his biblical studies be for the same reason? I don't know anything for sure but I do believe God is the center of all and through him we grow, learn and discover.
