Oh, one more thing. When I said freedom isn’t free that wasn’t to imply that we aren’t born with an innate right to freedom or to support the perverse Nazi “work will make you free” line. Rather it was a reference to the old saying “the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” This means vigilance against the excesses of the State but it also means some vigilance against total lawlessness too. Though I think the modern surveillance state has gone too far I do understand the need for some reasonable degree of security. I personally believe out and out anarchy to be naïve.

Noignrnc, thanks for your comments. When I originally wrote this article it was as a writing sample for a government job I was applying for, as such I dialed back my usually more anti-establishment rhetoric. I’m a whore, so sue me. Despite my rather reserved language I still didn’t get the job. Guess I didn’t kiss government posterior enough. Nonetheless, Terry Melanson (the guy who runs conspiracyarchive.com) was kind enough to post this article for me on his site. Thanks again for that Terry! I love the pictures you added.
Dialed back rhetoric notwithstanding, I still stand by my “over saturated freedom market” statement. Here’s why, although tyranny of some kind or another has always been part of human society I would argue that, comparatively speaking, modern western nations, have traditionally enjoyed (and to some extent still do enjoy) more freedoms than people living in places like Red China or various Middle Eastern Theocratic or Totalitarian States, where the tyranny isn’t even hidden. The fact that this site exists and that you and I are able to post back and forth without being arrested should be proof enough of that. My point was not that our system is by any means perfect but that because of the freedoms (or at least apparent freedoms) we have lived under for so long, we have developed an “It can’t happen here” attitude when it comes to totalitarianism. It is this very attitude that may well lead to us loosing even more liberties.
Similarly, when I wrote “if the battle for privacy is ever lost, the surveillance state will not at first be imposed from above but more likely given to us in the form of fun toys” I was making the same point. Because we believe we are some how immune to the kinds of violations that occur in more open tyrannies, we foolishly gobble up Trojan Horse style surveillance technologies sold to us by companies who are in bed with Big Government.
However, the fact that “our dark overlords” have to sneakily spy on us through little trinkets rather than simply walking into our homes and saying “we are going to install CCTV cameras in your house whether you like or not” shows to me that we haven’t lost all our freedoms yet. They still fear that we would rebel if they did something so open and egregious. An example of this is the fact that they had to shut the Information Awareness Office and repackage it as Facebook. If tyrannical control were 100%, they would never have needed to pull this kind of stealth move.
The point of this article was to warn people of both big government encroachments into privacy, and to those encroachments hidden within seemingly innocent, privately available technologies.
I attempted to be very measured and less alarmist with this article because I find various “conspiracy theorists” often go too much the other way. This is fine when preaching to the choir, that is people who believe in the very real existence of a N.W.O of some kind, but it often gets written off as gross exaggeration by hoity-toity academics, mainline journalist and other “nonbelievers” who demand very precise citation for every claim and run from any speculations (no matter how reasonable) that don’t fit their particular paradigm. If we are to win over these people, assuming that ever last one of them isn’t part of “the conspiracy,” I feel we must do so by first addressing them within their own “non-alarmist” worldview. Let them come to the conclusion that something is dreadfully wrong on their own by simply presenting the facts. I find, if you “connect the dots” for these people they’ll often just ignore you as a kook.
Anyway, thanks for your time and interest.
Sincerely,
The guy who wrote the above article.

>>>Of course; freedom isn’t free, it just seems that way because we have been blessed to live in an oversaturated freedom market<<>>Ultimately, if the battle for privacy is ever lost, the surveillance state will not at first be imposed from above but more likely given to us in the form of fun toys.<<<

'My first visit to this site, and I have got to scream...YOU'RE KIDDING ME, RIGHT??? This is an Illuminati/NWO/Conspiracy site that appears to be pro human rights, freedom & truth - but those two sentences show the opposite.

We do not (and have not for thousands of years) lived in ANY type of an 'oversaturated freedom market'! The battle for privacy is ALREADY lost, and was lost decades ago!

Sure, we can lose a bit more freedom & privacy before they play their final cards (if we allow it - particularly via RFID chips & nanotechnology), but anybody that cares to look deeply enough can clearly see we haven't been truly free humans for centuries. Our minds have been embedded with their lies and our thoughts & actions controlled by their programming since there was organized religion and government controlled education. And they continue to weaken our mind and ability to think with fluoride and all manner of poisons, "medications", chemicals and GMO "food".

If one is merely "average" with their internet & cell phone usage, "they" already have archived every detail (personal, private & otherwise) that they ever need to know.

And those Google cars? a TOTAL scam!!! Satellites have been able to read numbers on license plates for 30-40 YEARS...a satellite image and a simple 'face scan' of the same, and they identify any human that's ever uploaded their photo, sent it via email/phone...or has a drivers license with a digital image.

Reality check folks - "their technology" is ALWAYS 25-35+ years more advanced than they allow us to know.

"Know Your Enemy and Know Yourself - and you will be victorious 100 out of 100 battles". (Sun Tzu - Art of War). We MUST "know our Enemy"!

In the August UK riots ,the powers that be shut down mobile phone and internet servers for most of London.I know this because both Orange mobile network and Virgin media told of people in the London area experiencing "technical difficulties" and that they were working on it,yeah right. They then rounded up all the suspects from facebook and blackberry info. They now officially have us all by the balls
