Oh yeah, your mention of the tea party movement reminded me of something, that, as you are astute observers of semiotics and cultural discourse, I'd be interested to know your opinions on. I've noticed that many protests and ostensibly anti-Elite mass movements, in recent years, have adopted the language and imagery of both the Matrix trilogy and the film “V is for Vendetta.” Examples include researcher Alan Watt calling his web page “cuttingthroughthematrix.com” and nigh innumerable instances of people wearing “Guy Fawkes” masks (as seen in “V is for Vendetta”) at nearly every single protest in the last three years. As you may well know, both the Matrix trilogy and Vendetta are produced by the Wachowski brothers and are rife with gnostic subtext. Vendetta is even written by self professed occultists Alan Moore.

Given all this, I find it extremely disturbing that the two main pop-cultural frames of reference for discussing deep politics, are also two of the major fountainheads of pop-gnosticism. I recall your assessment of the New Age take over of the 9-11 truth movement some time ago, the Zeitgeist movement being a prime example of such a phenomenon. There has been a creeping intrusion of gnosticism into numerous aspects of culture as of late, and I'm beginning to wonder if the reason for this has, all along, been to prepare the way for a false revolution. Gnostic myths like “The Hypostasis of the Archons” provide an expedient analogy for popular rebellion against a cryto-Elite, who have trapped mankind in a world we never made. Thus, in this paradigm, any leader who comes along and topples the current power structure will be perceived as a gnostic adept.

Though an overthrow of the current power elite would be welcome, a gnostic model for rebellion would undoubtedly throw the baby out with the bath water. Equating God and all traditional religious and social structures with the matrix of control, a gnostically programmed uprising would, almost certainly, attempt to tear down the old order and erect a new one based on a perverse, inverted moral paradigm.

The idea that such a thing is possible is hardly the stuff of fairy tales, as no less than Percy Shelley, prescribed barley veiled gnostic myths as the blueprint for anti-elite revolution in his works “Prometheus Unbound” and “The Revolt of Islam.” Shelly, would, in turn, exert significant influence on the likes of Karl Marx, whose philosophy would later inspire some of the most brutal and oppressive regimes in human history.

Anyway, what do you guys think, is this just mere pop-cultural flotsam or a genuine cause for concern?

Great show as usual guys! Just wondering, what do you think of the assertion of, (former?) Larouche movement member and Alex Jones Show regular, Webster Tarpley, that Obama's poorly covered Marxist veneer, is, in actuality, a smoke screen for the fact that he is a C.I.A asset? One of the lynchpins of this contention is the fact that, after graduating from Columbia, Obama worked for Business International, a publishing and advertising firm alleged to be (or at least to have once been) a C.I.A front. This argument isn't limited to Tarpley, leftist Australian Journalist, John Pilger seems to hold the same opinion. See his brief video linked through this very site: http://www.conspiracyarchive.com/Blog/?p=2983

If this is the case, then Marxist thinking may not influence his decision making at all. I think it was, again, Tarpley who further argued that Obama's liberation theology spewing, former pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright is a creature of the Ford Foundation, which Tarpley believes to the chief mechanism of elite sponsored “counter-insurgency” in America. I haven't done the research to check the veracity of this claim but I do know that Wright is, at least, connected to the Elite through being a fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation.

I guess the theory behind Tarpley's claim would be, just as the Elite manipulate grassroots conservatives with controlled Christian leadership, so to do they manipulate grassroots leftists through, an intentionally, poorly disguised crypto-Marxist leadership. The leftists take the bate, deep down believing their Marxist Savior has come, all the while, emphatically denying his Communist heritage to critics. The right also take the bate, attacking the leader as a Red, only to provide further cover the individual's true Elite pedigree. (Glen Beck is an example of such a Rightists dupe)

It's possible this might be the case with Obama, though I'm often somewhat leery to fully trust either Pilger or Tarpley, as both are a little too uncritical of Marxist dictatorships for my liking, and as such it might suit their politics to float this view. Regardless, it does seem that Obama's developing years, at least, were steeped in genuine Marxist philosophy through his mother, in which case, the internal ideological conflict which you predicted might yet arise in him.

Interesting video on the demographic winter. Though it is, on the one hand very sad, considering the millions of innocent lives lost to abortion, there is still something gratifying in watching Malthusian Darwinist eating their words. Sadly, as predicted in the documentary, the entrenched environmentalist, feminists, gay lobbyists and pro-choice movements will no doubt deny the oncoming population implosion to the bitter end.
