I'm so sick of that quote "the top 1% earners paid more taxes than the bottom 95%". Because the top 1% made all their money off the backs of the rest of us. People they employed, managed, etc... They made their money off the backs of poor people. So, in a way we all contributed to their wealth, so of course they have an obligation to pay more in taxes. They should pay way more than they do now.

After reading this ultra conservative review of Michael Moore's new movie, and it only made me want to go buy it. Sounds like Michael Moore has the right idea. We should all have the right to free health care, adequate living wages and pensions, etc... What's wrong with that? The funny thing about capitalism is that in it's purest form it's slavery. With no rights. It is opposite to democracy, which calls for universal rights and all of us having a say in how things are run. And all of us should have a fair slice of the pie too. Maybe we should get to vote on who runs the corporations, the media, the banks, and not just government. Because that's where the real power is -the banks, media, corporations. They all hugely influence the policies of the so called democratically elected governments. So, where's the democracy?

If Capitalism and Communism lack social mobility, it is increasingly irrelevant to the masses witch one prevails.People who have energy, intelligence, leadership ability and some well placed ruthlessness will most likely do well under any set of rules. I was piss broke till 47 yrs. old when opportunity and a resolve to not finish up in the gutter landed me in a luxury condo with Caddy. It may not last but it was worth the ride. Getting ahead doesn't allow for any hand holding but for the collective good I wish you luck. The people at the top of the food chain is who you want. I would think the people at the bottom are weakening more now than those at the top.

I don't understand how you can criticize Michael Moore for making this movie when he is fighting for true Democracy rather than a Corptocracy. Maybe you are part of the "richest 1%" who has 95% of the wealth, but I am not, and I applaud Michael's efforts to expose the ridiculousness of our monetary system. Seriously, after all the conspiracy theories and "new world order" paranoia, how can you not see that the monetary system needs retooling? It's a huge glaring control system, and it's time we took our collective power back.

Here’s a thumbnail of what it takes, in my view, for a society to be prosperous:

1) An inventive / innovative class; people have to want to invent things and processes;

2) Cross-culturalization, where multiple inventors get together and compare their inventions, and newer \ better inventions are created;

3) Seaports or trade route intersections;

4) Business flowing from invention / innovation;

5) Decent Jobs flowing from business, so people can take care of their families with pride;

6) A reasonably decent life flowing from more people having jobs; and

7) Education encouraging the repeat of the process

Either some force in society sets this in motion, governs the process, and maintains it, or it does not. If you leave it to chance, you might be on top for a while but you will be on top indefinitely. But that is a cost of freedom, when you do not direct people what to do with their lives.

My suspicion is that China will be the next world power because they tell more people what to do, and they are more controlling. More free? Of course not. But more planning, organization, consistency, and coordination take place under their model. We in the U.S. use the “herding cats” model, and there are benefits and costs associated with it.

We’ve needed more inventors for years, and few in our country have paid attention to that issue.
