So how would you recommend we praise people's intelligence, by only presenting the mainstream, acceptable brand of whitewashed, ostensible politics? As to the fact that conspiracy has always existed, no body denies that. That opinion is one of the central pillars of most modern conspiracy theories. You know what else has been around forever? Murder, rape, theft, bigotry and war. Just because something evil has been around forever is no reason to turn a blind eye to it and just let it slide. If you're lucky and take care of your health perhaps you'll live long enough for young punks to make cracks about you on the future equivalent of the internet (which I predict will be a system of electric wires that deliver powerful, non-lethal shocks to the genital area, triggering pain induced, shared group hallucinations. It'll hurt a lot more than HD TV and the Web but it will get real high quality picture.) So in closing... Suck THAT Up! Insult our intelligence?
