It was an obligation directly from God to kill jesus. But jesus (reportedly) did something even more dramatic: he claimed to be a god. Wow, that is really extreme. Understand that a "messiah" is in no way a god. Saul was moshiach, King david (how I understand the word at least), meaning "chosen." Who thinks prophet Isaiah is a god ? Even the greatest of all, Moshe Rabbeinu, who even thinks the greatest is a god ? I`m not aware of anyone, I hope it stays that way. Jesus a gawd ? Liar is more like it.
