I remember the Collins brothers. Interesting writing style, but the seemingly uncritical reliance on conspiracy texts detracted from the overall value of their observations.

  2. They regret some of those citations. They do have some of the sharpest minds when it comes to analysis, however; and their intelligence is undeniably on display throughout their writings. Their new book promises to be more rigorous with source material. They will be publishing some excerpts of the book here soon, when it is finally printed.

This new format for my site is slowly being populated with old articles by authors. I’m still in 2005 yet, so I have a ways to go. Some of my older articles will not even be republished, as my methodology similarly was uncritical of conspiracy texts. I didn’t ask the Collins brothers if they wanted to omit any of their past work too – maybe I should have.

Well I certainly hope their future work is more rigorous in terms of research and that they don’t let bias confirmation color their findings. There is much to be said for being thorough, tall though research takes a lot longer, especially if one is trying to test some of the more sensational claims out there. And doing that does not always win you friends either: you discover that some theorists are not that sincere about really getting to the bottom of things while others take it as a personal affront if you find their particular claims has more than a few factual errors…

But I look forward to excerpts to their next book. Please pass on my regards.

  4. Their body of work is quite large. This one is pretty old. I think there’s close to 50 or 70 that I will get to reposting/redirecting. Here’s the last one they wrote together for the site:

Destabilization: Directed Discontent in Egypt and Beyond
    http://www.conspiracyarchive.com/Articles/Egypt_and_Beyond.htm

It’s quite substantial, rigorous, and a good indication of where they’re at now.

  5. Will B says:

Definitely “substantial” but for all their words, and a number of instances where conspiracy sources are used uncritically, their analysis still fails to prove their central contention that the overthrow of Mubarak was some how a confection controlled by various western forces.
